BRIDGES TO HOPE FOOD DRIVE HERE AT FIRST UNITED: We are planning a food drive here in the parking lot of First United Church on Saturday, May 4th from 9:30 am to 1 pm. Please mark the date on your calendar. All donations are greatly appreciated!!
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE: First United is looking to start up a Fundraising Committee. Some ideas we are looking at: a dessert party, concerts, a jiggs dinner. We are open for new ideas! If you are interested, please talk to Rev. Ian or contact Joan Winsor at joanwinsor59@gmail.com

UCW MORNING COFFEE AND CAKE WALK: The UCW are sponsoring this event on Saturday, May 11th in Trinity Hall from 10:00 – 12 noon with the doors opening at 9:30. Tickets will be $8 each and are available immediately following the Sunday services, through UCW members, and at the Church Office weekdays Wednesday – Friday from 10 am to 12 noon until May 8th. Get a group of your friends or family together, make up a table of 6 and enjoy getting together. Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door so please purchase them by May 8th.
UCW DONATION REQUEST: The UCW has received commitments for 8 cakes for the Cake Walk that will take place during the UCW Morning Coffee on May 11th. Only 4 – 5 more to go! If you are able to donate a special cake, fancy dessert or a tray of fancy cookies please contact the church office by phone or email and a UCW member will get back to you. Thank you for your consideration of this request.
QUILTING GROUP: The next meeting of the Quilting Group is scheduled for April 29th. The group meets the first, third and fifth Monday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room. All levels are welcome to join. For more information contact Pam Morgan at 709-691-0214 or pmorgan@mun.ca

CHRISTIAN FAMILY SUNDAY/ MOTHER’S DAY FOSTER CHILDREN FUND APPEAL: Our Youth Group sponsor foster children through Planned International Canada. We are appealing to the congregation for donations on Christian Family Sunday to help support this cause. Please help support our children! All donations greatly appreciated – loose change, through your envelope, etc.
FOOD BANK SUNDAY: The first Sunday of the month is designated as Food Bank Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer.
BUILDING FUND SUNDAY: The last Sunday of the month is designated as Building Fund Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer. if you would like to make a contribution. Thank you for your continued support.
RECYCLABLES?
Our Youth Group collects beverage containers for recycling. If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.) This is a great fund raiser for the youth and the Youth Group thanks you for your support.
WEEKLY BULLETIN DEDICATIONS: Now that we have resumed printing bulletins, you may dedicate a bulletin in memory of a loved one or in celebration of a special event. If you would like to do so, please put your name and phone number for a specific date on the sign-up sheet located on the bulletin board in the vestibule or call the church office at 368-2194.

SPRING CRAFT FAIR – COWAN HEIGHTS UNITED CHURCH is having a Spring Craft Fair on Saturday, April 27th, from 10 am – 4 pm. They will be featuring local vendors selling loom knit stuffed animals, crochet plushies, adults & kid’s jewelry, RUMMOLI pots, Christmas spiders, cupcakes and cake pops, Olaf’s Kitchen, and much more.
TOPSAIL UNITED CHURCH CONCERT: Friday, April 26th at 7 pm. ‘The Cormiers in Concert’ featuring Gordon and Loretta Country Duet Show. Your favourite songs from Johnny and June, Conway and Loretta, George and Tammy, Porter and Dolly. TOPSAIL UNITED CHURCH MEN’S CLUB will be holding an eat-in and take-out Flipper Dinner on Monday, April 22nd. Cost is $25. To reserve tickets, please call their church office at 709-834-4567, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12 noon. Take-outs are available at 5:30 pm, eat-in at 6:30 pm. All are welcome!
TOPSAIL UNITED CHURCH will be hosting an Afternoon Tea Party and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 4th from 2 to 4 pm with special musical guests Avalonia.
