UNITED CHURCH CALENDARS: The Youth Group will be selling United Church Calendars again this year as part of their fundraising. Calendars are just $10. Please call the church office if you would like to order a calendar or two. These make great Christmas gifts!!

MITTEN TREE: Christmas is almost here and the annual mitten tree is up in the church vestibule.  Please consider making a donation to the tree of hats, mittens, gloves, scarves or warm socks. All items will be distributed to those in need.

BUILDING FUND SUNDAY: The last Sunday of the month is designated as Building Fund Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer.  if you would like to make a contribution.  Thank you for your continued support. 

FOOD BANK SUNDAY: The first Sunday of the month is designated as Food Bank Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer.

GARDEN CAFÉ Sign up!  Don’t forget to join us in the Garden Café for tea/coffee before church service from 10 -10:45 am. Thank you to all who have been helping out in the café to date.  We have posted a schedule for December and January months for folks to sign up to help.  We only need one or two names for each Sunday.  Thanks again♥♥

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA – December 14th, 8 to 10 am: Come and enjoy a fun time at our breakfast with Santa for young and old here in our Trinity Hall. Breakfast will consist of pancakes, sausages, boiled eggs, toast, juice, tea and coffee. Just $8 for adults and $5 for children.
No presale tickets, just pay at the door! Santa is looking forward to seeing everyone there!

NL HEALTH SERVICES: GRIEVING: COPING WITH THE HOLIDAYS: St. John’s, Kenmount Terrace Community Centre, 85 Messenger Drive: Thursday, November 28th, 1:30-3 pm, Thursday, December 5th, 7-8:30 pm, please register as space is limited to 40 people. ANNUAL CHRISTMAS DECORATING: We will be decorating the church for Christmas on Saturday, November 30th at 6 pm.  If you can spare a few hours to help out and get you in the Christmas spirit, we would love to see you! All members welcome!

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA – December 14th, 8 to 10 am: Come and enjoy a fun time at our breakfast with Santa for young and old here in our Trinity Hall. Breakfast will consist of pancakes, sausages, boiled eggs, toast, juice, tea and coffee. Just $8 for adults and $5 for children.
No presale tickets, just pay at the door! Santa is looking forward to seeing everyone there!

UCW CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SERVICE: The UCW is once again hosting a Christmas Lights Service on Sunday, December 8th beginning at 7:00 pm.  If you would like to make a special donation “In Memory of” or “In Celebration of” loved one/s, you will find a form included in our recent church mail-out.  An acknowledgement of your donation will be made during the service. Join us at the service to share the light of Christmas. Any questions, please call the church office.

USHERS NEEDED/WORSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED! If you come to church on Sundays and are able to help in any way in being an usher, we could use your help. The Worship Committee is also in need of a couple of members to help out on their committee. UCW MEETING: The UCW will meet tomorrow, Monday, November 18th at 12:30 pm in Trinity Hall. As usual, please bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee will be supplied. The UCW Annual Shower for Carew Lodge and Emmanuel House will also be held tomorrow. Donations of personal items can be dropped off between 1:30 and 3 pm. Please use the Trinity Hall (Churchill Avenue) entrance.  Christmas gift bags will be filled for each of the 24 residents of Carew Lodge… a project that was started approximately 20 years ago. All ladies of the congregation are welcome to come along and help sort the items and help fill the gift bags. “Come see what we do”. If members of the congregation cannot drop off items tomorrow, donations will also be accepted at the church office on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 10 am and 2 pm, or on Sunday morning.

MUSICAL EVENING WITH SHELLEY NEVILLE AND PETER HALLEY: Tomorrow night – November 4th at 7 pm.  If you haven’t picked up your tickets yet – time is running out!! Tickets are $25 and are available after Sunday service today or at the door. Payment by cash or cheque only.

CAN PROJECT REMINDER: Just a friendly reminder about our Can Project. Hope you have been able to put a few coins into your cans over the past summer months to help out! If you could please bring them in it would be most appreciated!! Many thanks to those of you who have already returned your cans. 

GARDEN CAFÉ Help Needed!  Don’t forget to join us in the Garden Café for tea/coffee before church service from 10 -10:45 am. We are looking for folks to help out in the café for setting up/clean up and serving of tea and coffee. Please speak to Carolyn Rice or someone in the café if you can help out!    

PURDY’S CHOCOLATES FUNDRAISER:  We will be selling Purdy’s chocolates again this year. To order, go to website:

QUILTING GROUP: The Quilting Group meets the first, third and fifth Monday of the month at 7:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room. The next meeting will be November 18th. All levels are welcome to join. For more information contact Pam Morgan at 709-691-0214 or pmorgan@mun.ca

FOOD BANK SUNDAY: The first Sunday of the month is designated as Food Bank Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer.

BIBLE STUDY:  Rev. Karen is offering a Bible Study group here at First United on Wednesdays at 10:30 am in the Multipurpose Room. All are welcome!  If you haven’t attended any sessions to date, it is not too late to join in!

MEN’S CLUB MEETING: Our Men’s Club will be having their monthly meeting in Trinity Hall this Tuesday night, November 5th at 5:30, supper at 6 pm. Any questions, please call the church office.

NEXT UCW MEETING: The next meeting of our UCW is scheduled for Monday, November 18th at 12:30 in Trinity Hall. Please bring a bagged lunch, tea and coffee supplied.  All ladies of the congregation are welcome.

UCW CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SERVICE: The UCW is once again hosting a Christmas Lights Service on Sunday, December 8th beginning at 7:00 pm.  If you would like to make a special donation “In Memory of” or “In Celebration of” loved one/s, you will find a form included in our church mailout going out this week.  An acknowledgement of your donation will be made during the service. Join us at the service to share the light of Christmas. Any questions, please call the church office.

USHERS NEEDED/WORSHIP COMMITTEE MEMBERS NEEDED! Many on our usher teams have had illness and are unable to continue their usher duties. We are in real need of several people. If you come to church on Sundays and are able to help in any way in being an usher, please speak to Sara Case on Sunday or contact her at 709-746-0935 or call the church office at 709-368-2194. The Worship Committee is also in need of a couple of members to help out on their committee.  Please contact Sara Case.

TRUNK OR TREAT, October 27th, 5 pm: The Youth Group will be having their annual pumpkin carving in Trinity Hall and ‘Trunk or Treat’ in the church parking lot. Decorate your vehicle and bring some treats for the kids. All ages can participate! Come out for a ghoulish time!

RECYCLABLES?

 Our Youth Group collects beverage containers for recycling. If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.) This is a great fund raiser for the youth and the Youth Group thanks you for your support.
