OUR GOOD FRIDAY PRAYER WHEEL has been posted in the sanctuary.  Please sign your name to take an hour or two during this holy day to pray and meditate for yourself and those in our world.

LENTEN BIBLE STUDY:  During the six weeks of Lent, Rev. Karen is offering an introductory course on the Book of Revelation on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am in the Multipurpose Room. No prior knowledge is needed. This week they will be studying chapters 10, 11 and 12. It is never to late to join a session. All are welcome!

KEVIN COLLINS CONCERT with special guests ‘The Right Fit’ here at First United Church: Come and enjoy an evening of uplifting and encouraging music by our very own Kevin Collins and guests on Saturday, April 12th at 7:30 pm.  Tickets cost $30. Tickets can be purchased from the church office Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 10 am and 2 pm or after 11 am Sunday service. We accept cash or cheque only. 

QUILTING GROUP: The next meeting of the Quilting Group is scheduled for Monday, March 31st at 7:30 pm in the Multipurpose Room. All levels are welcome to join. For more information contact Pam Morgan at 709-691-0214 or pmorgan@mun.ca

UPCOMING CONCERT by Peter and Ronalda MacDonald on Friday, May 2nd at 7:30 pm. Come and join us at First United for a concert by our very own talented Peter and Ronalda MacDonald. They will be singing a variety of selections of their favorite hits. Tickets cost $25 and are available beginning April 2nd during office hours. Come join us for what is sure to be a great evening of entertainment!!!!

OUR ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING is now scheduled for March 30th as we are still waiting on some reports from auditors. We are always looking for new members to help out on the Board.  Any questions about helping out on our Board, please speak to our Board Chair, Joan Winsor. Please see attached Mission Articulation Plan and also The Annual Report 2024. Thanking everyone in advance! 

Our Youth Group collects beverage containers for recycling. If you would like to drop off your beverage recycling at the church, here’s what can be recycled: aluminum can; plastic containers; glass bottles; steel cans; drink boxes (tetra); mini sips (drink pouches) etc. (Please wash out all bottles and remove all caps before dropping them off.) The Youth Group thanks you for your support.

BUILDING FUND SUNDAY: The last Sunday of the month is designated as Building Fund Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer.  if you would like to make a contribution.  Thank you for your continued support. 

FOOD BANK SUNDAY: The first Sunday of the month is designated as Food Bank Sunday. Envelopes are available on the table in foyer.

In Our Faith Community

HOLY WEEK SERVICES:  Some confirmed dates for Holy Week Services to date are:  Maudy Thursday Service at 7 or 7:30 pm at Cowan Heights United Church, Good Friday Service here at First United Church at 10:30 led by our UCW, Good Friday Walk at 1 pm – details to follow, Holy Saturday Easter Vigil Service at 8 pm at St. James United Church.  More information to follow when we receive more information.

SPIRIT OF NEWFOUNDLAND DINNER THEATREGower Street, St. James United Church, and Cowan Heights United Church are hosting a fundraiser with Spirit of Newfoundland Dinner Theater – Lovers, Lies and Liquor show. On March 28, 2025, Gower Theater (208 Gower Street) doors open at 6:30 p.m. All for just $120 per person with tax receipts ($50.00 per ticket) will be issued for the charitable portion of the ticket. Tickets can be purchased from St. James United Church (330 Elizabeth Ave) 709-722-1881, Office is open Tuesday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

PEOPLE OF THE SEA SERVICE: Memorial United in Portugal Cove will be hosting the 58th People of the Sea Service on Sunday, March 30th at 2 pm. All are welcome to attend and a reception will follow.

FISH AND BREWIS SUPPER:  Church of the Ascension, 58 Smallwood Drive, Mt. Pearl, is hosting a Service and Fish and Brewis supper with the Bishop on Monday, April 7th. The service is at 5:30 pm with supper to follow. Tickets are $15 and are available through the office, Monday to Friday, 9 to 12.

RESCHEDULED ECUMENICAL SERVICE: Due to the stormy weather, the Gospel Hymn Sing scheduled at the Salvation Army Citadel on Ashford Drive on February 9th had to be cancelled. It has been rescheduled for April 6th at 6:30 pm.  All are welcome!

THE ANNUAL CFUW GREAT BIG BOOK SALE takes place at the former Globo Shoes, Kenmount Road side of the Avalon Mall parking lot, April 3rd 1 to 9 pm, April 4th 10 am to 9 pm, April 5th 10 am to 1 pm (half price day). Come out to purchase a fantastic selection of fiction and non-fiction books! Proceeds from the book sale go to fund scholarships and community outreach projects.

GOWER STREET UNITED CHURCH  4th Annual Dessert Auction and Concert on Saturday, April 12, at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30). The event will take place in the Lecture Hall, where there will be entertainment and dessert for all in attendance. Entertainment will be provided by the very talented Peter Halley and Shelly Neville.  There are only 120 tickets available. Gather a group or come alone for a fun evening of great entertainment and delicious desserts for all. Tickets are $30 each and are available for purchase at the church office. Payment is due via e-transfer, cheque, or transfer before the event.



ITEMS FOR BRIDGES TO HOPE: If you would like to pick up a few items to help out Bridges, please place donations in the bin in the foyer here at First United. The monthly item needed for March is beans. Some weekly specials for the week of March 20th to 26th helpful for food hampers:
